St Fillan’s Cave. It’s been a stopping off point for pilgrims, a cellar for monks, a storeroom for fisherfolk, a smugglers store and a prison during witch hunts. Rediscovered in 1900 and rededicated as a place of worship in 1935.
Seen on the way home, a monument near Ceres to the first aerial voyage in Scotland. In 1785 Vincenzo Lunardi travelled here from Edinburgh in a hydrogen balloon.
